In the 18th century, famous scientist Anders Celsius measured the sea level on the landmark. A century later, another scientist named Charles Lyle measured it again to note the differences.

All knowledge accrued serves to help the next generation. That's what scientists do. One day, you might be the one telling this to your kids. Or, you might be the one making such observations or records for future scientists.

Science is a living subject. It changes as we change our understanding of the world. This proves especially important since our neighbours (Malaysia, Indonesia etc.) are the ones exposed to the tectonic plates, hence their tsunamis, volcanoes, earthquakes and so on. It's important to recognise their problems and help in their plights as a result.
